Introduced by Sciss in 2008, Domecasting technology has now become an industry standard. Chicago’s Adler Planetarium has already had incredible success using this revolutionary technology to optomize educational outreach around the world with their Domecast series of Kavli Fulldome Lectures. Don’t miss the opportunity to join their next Domecast, “The Warped Universe: The 100 Year Quest to Detect Gravitational Waves,” presented by Negris Mavalvala on Friday, October 28th.
Hosted by the Adler Planetarium in Chicago, Nergis Mavalvala, Professor of Astrophysics and Associate Head of the Department of Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) will discuss LIGO and the discovery of gravitational waves. Regarding her lecture, Negris states:
“Some of the most violent events in the universe spectacularly warp space-time, emitting gravitational waves. I will describe the 100 year search for these tiny ripples in space-time and what they can tell us about cosmic events that may be shrouded in darkness and date as far back in time as the earliest moments after the Big Bang.”

In July, 20 planetariums participated in Michael Turner’s Domecast lecture “From the Big Bang to the Multiverse and Beyond” at Adler. Mark SubbaRao, Director of the Space Visualization Laboratory at the Adler Planetarium hopes to continue to grow that number to include more and more of the Uniview community and expects that this lecture will be the largest domecast event ever.
The lecture will be held at various times in order to accommodate a global presence. Uniview users can live stream to the lectures at the following times:
