We are planning for two awesome days at our next UUG at California Academy of Sciences in September! As you might have noticed, the dates are planned in connection with LIPS 2015, a symposium focusing on our favorite: live, interactive planetarium presentations. Our hope is that some of you can use this opportunity to attend both events.
Date: September 21-22
Place: California Academy of Sciences (San Francisco, CA, USA)
Accomodations: Sciss will be staying at the Cova Hotel on 655 Ellis Street. We managed to get a small discount on the rooms, a rate of 220 USD per night. Please contact Lorna at [email protected], and mention that you are with Sciss. Many hotels in the area are fully booked these dates, so try not wait too long with your bookings.
Agenda
The agenda will be mixed with presentations and workshops concerning new features in Uniview 2.0, a guest lecturer from NASA Ames Research Center, inspirational sessions by our users, and of course - hangin´ about with the best user group in the world. Here’s a preview of some of the items on the agenda:
High-Res Map Data by Brian Day, Lead for Citizen Science & Community Development at NASA Ames Research Center
Teaching Scale with a Digital Planetarium: Preliminary Research Results by Dr. Ka Chun Yu, Curator of Space Science at Denver Museum of Nature and Science
3D Module Building by Dan Tell, Senior Planetarium Systems Support Engineer at California Academy of Sciences
